Google Rewards Mobile Friendly Websites

Since mobile has become an essential platform for every internet user, it is more vital than ever that your website is mobile friendly. And last week, Google officially started rewarding and labelling “mobile-friendly” websites in the mobile search rankings. Google has already promoted all the websites to be mobile friendly with posts encouraging you to speed up to your mobile site and to avoid directing mobile users to your homepage. The visitor should be directed to the relevant information they are looking for instead of directing them to homepage.

As we all know how frustrating it is to browse a website that is not responsive on mobile devices. All your potential customers would like easy to access website while on the go. When using Google mobile, websites that have been classified as “mobile-friendly” will be labelled as such, so users won’t need to click through and then realize that they are unable to view the information on a page.

According to the official announcement made by Google on 15th November, Google search must find following criteria to qualify for being labelled as “mobile-friendly” website:-

  1. Avoid softwares that are not compatible on mobile devices, such as Flash.
  2. Use text size that is easily readable without zooming.
  3. Size content to the screen so users don’t have to scroll horizontally or zoom.
  4. Places links far enough apart so that the correct one can be easily tapped.
